Artist: Simone Wierød
selected work for Essere Creativo 2015
The piece is inspired by the human condition of aiming to predict, forecast and control our surroundings.
WWW is a physical and abstract dance piece, staged as an absurd and abstracted "weather forecast", with the dancers as "hosts" trying to predict and understand what is going on around and within them.
The music is made from sound clips from weather forecasts, which creates a unique dynamic.
Simone Wierød is a Danish dancer and chorographer based in Berlin. In a very young age she has already choreographed and set up performances in Berlin, London and on the Fiji Islands, where she has got good reviews for her unique and abstract style.
She is educated in dance in Copenhagen and at Danceworks Berlin, and is experienced in teaching dance as well. During her studies she has worked with former Batsheeva dancers Amit Goldenberg and Yaara Dolev, as well as former Nikolai-dancer Eric Dunlap.
Her latest project was during a choreographic residency for VOU Fiji, where she choreographed 3 pieces, one of them in collaboration with American choreographer Kevin Yee-Chan, which were performed for a sold out audience in the biggest dance theater in Suva, Fiji.
"WWW" won the Critic Prize at the International Competition for Choreographers HANNOVER 2015
